(NRCC News) – Another unqualified Biden nominee has withdrawn themselves from consideration after being exposed by Republicans as totally unfit and potentially incompetent.
Joe Biden nominated Phillip Washington, CEO of Denver International Airport, to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) last July and renominated him in January after the last Congress failed to act on the appointment.
Support in Congress for Washington was lackluster, to say the least, and after Republicans eviscerated him during a March 1 hearing over the fact that he has no aviation experience, Washington did the right thing and withdrew from consideration.
Only Joe Biden would nominate someone to lead the Federal Aviation Administration who didn’t actually have any experience flying planes. Republicans did not go easy on Washington.
“This, quite simply, is a position he is not qualified for,” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz stated.
Washington’s withdrawal from the process was confirmed Saturday by the totally incompetent Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who had naturally supported the nomination.
“The FAA needs a confirmed Administrator, and Phil Washington’s transportation & military experience made him an excellent nominee,” Buttigieg wrote on Twitter. “The partisan attacks and procedural obstruction he has faced are undeserved, but I respect his decision to withdraw and am grateful for his service.”

Democrats have a razor thin majority in the Senate and reports from an inside source told The Associated Press that Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, who caucuses with the Democrats, was stonewalling the nomination process and was likely planning on voting against Washington’s appointment.
Democratic Sen. Jon Tester of Montana also declined to publicly throw his support behind Washington, the AP reported.
Not only does Washington not have any experience flying planes but he’s also under scrutiny for an ongoing corruption investigation involving his previous position as CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or LA Metro, the governing body for local public transportation.
“I … have serious concerns regarding outstanding allegations of misconduct going back to Mr. Washington’s time at LA Metro,” Cruz said on March 1. “He was named in multiple search warrants in an ongoing criminal public corruption investigation and was the subject of multiple whistleblower complaints.”
Washington’s nomination raised some serious red flags and he made the right move by withdrawing from the process rather than continue on and be embarrassed by a vote.
Meanwhile, the FAA has been without a full-time leader since March 2022. In that time, American airports have experienced a number of unprecedented close calls and mishaps including the cancellation of Southwest Airlines flights over the Christmas holiday season and the collision or near-collision of several planes.
It’s bad enough the Transportation Department is being run by the utterly clueless and hopelessly inept Pete Buttigieg. It’s true that incompetence begets Incompetence but these positions need to be filled by serious people. Not the clowns hand-picked by the most incompetent, unfit president in US history.
It seems, however, that some of the unqualified candidates he’s selected are at least efficient in self-awareness and have done the US a favor by withdrawing themselves from consideration. Washington is not the first.
Earlier this month, Federal Communications Commission nominee Gigi Sohn withdrew her nomination while Biden’s selection for ambassador to India, former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, just barely made it through the Senate on March 15 after facing significant skepticism.
We shouldn’t be surprised by the complete ineptitude of Biden’s picks. He’s not nominating based on how well they can do the job but rather on how well they can stick to the agenda and implement the left’s radical policies.
