(NRCC News) – The Biden regime is doing everything in their power to ensure as many illegal migrants make it into the US as possible during this administration. It’s bad enough we have complete lawlessness at the border and the regime has tied Border Patrol’s hands through legislation. The American people are going to end up footing the bill for it all but now, new reports indicate that legal immigrants are going to pay the price for illegal immigration too.
The Daily Caller notes that the regime plans to increase the costs of legal immigrants to apply for permits, visas and green cards to help offset the backlog of asylum cases thanks to the open border situation. The new plans were announced by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on Tuesday.
The US has been backlogged on asylum cases for years with most applicants having to wait an average of 4.3 years before appearing in court, as indicated by Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC). The new rules, however, would see massive increases for legal migrants. The H-1B application fees for skilled workers would skyrocket from just $60 to $780, for non-agricultural workers it would jump from $460 to $1080 and green card applicants will be charged $1,540 instead of the current $1,140. Those certainly aren’t negligible increases.
The USCIS is predicting that the new fees will bring in an average range of $5.2 billion and $6.4 billion each year in revenue. The funds would then be used to eliminate future backlogs in asylum claims. In other words, legal migrants who come to the US following the law would be footing the bill for illegal aliens to have their potentially fraudulent asylum claims legitimized in a more expedient manner. Once again, the Biden regime is giving advantage to lawbreakers at the expense of law-abiding citizens.
“In addition to improving customer service operations and managing the incoming workload, USCIS must continue to fulfill our growing humanitarian mission, upholding fairness, integrity, and respect for all we serve,” USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou said in a statement Tuesday. “This proposed rule allows USCIS to more fully recover operating costs for the first time in six years and will support the Administration’s effort to rebuild the legal immigration system.”
The number of asylum-seekers showing up at the border is so significant you’d think there was civil war going on in South and Central America. In fiscal year 2022 alone, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded encountering a staggering 2.3 million migrants at the southern border. Among those 2.3 million, 1.6 million were asylum-seekers. Now those 1.6 million asylum-seekers are waiting for their day in court. In the meantime, they get to live in the US and be supported by taxpayers.
Kamala Harris wants us all to believe people around the world are flocking to the US with legitimate asylum claims because of “climate change.” Of course, that’s absurd. This is why Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy was so effective. Those with bogus claims often abandoned their pursuit when faced with the prospect of having to stay in Mexico until their court date where they would not have the benefit of the generosity of the American welfare system.
As if the asylum backlogs weren’t already bad enough. Now there’s another 1.6 million cases from just last year alone further crippling the immigration system.
“Asylum backlogs are not new (as TRAC has shown many times), since the number of people requesting the type of protection that asylum provides has typically exceeded the capacity of government agencies to process applications quickly and fairly. Yet in recent years, with political, economic, and environmental instability in places like Mexico, Venezuela, Haiti, Central America, Ukraine, and elsewhere, the United States has seen a growth in migrants’ needs that outpace even the growing number of Immigration Judges and asylum officers added by both Democratic and Republican administrations,” TRAC stated.
It seems the United States is the only place in the world for those seeking “asylum” to go. It sure is baffling when you consider how awful the US is according to leftists who seem to loathe this country and want to see it destroyed. The irony is the American dream being chased by millions of so-called “asylum-seekers” is going to be nothing more than a dream because the American way of life cannot be sustained under these circumstances.
Illegal aliens are flooding the US with the hopes of living an easy, paid-for life and they’ll get it, for now, at the expense of American middle-class taxpayers. Soon enough, however, we’re all going to be poor together while the elites live in opulence and luxury. Don’t worry, folks. It’s all part of the plan.
