(NRCC News) – Since the extremely suspicious 2020 presidential election, the Democrats have been rather brazen in their efforts to interfere with US elections. By all accounts Republicans were supposed to win by a landslide in the 2022 midterm yet somehow Democrats barely lost any seats in either chamber of Congress.
Now the Biden regime has made known its latest attempt to interfere with elections. On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced it is planning to award millions of dollars to local governments throughout the US for supposed “election security” purposes.
Keep in mind that the Democrats, especially Biden’s camp, have been the ones insisting that elections are totally safe and secure and that the American people have nothing to worry about. Now they’re doling out millions in taxpayer dollars in the name of “election security?” We’re not buying it and neither should you.
In an agency press release, the DHS revealed its plans to provide “more than $2 billion in funding for eight fiscal year 2023 preparedness grant programs,” which it claims are designed to “help state, local, tribal, and territorial officials prepare for, prevent, protect against, and respond to” so-called “acts of terrorism.”
We went from having totally secure elections to spending $2 billion to prevent “acts of terrorism” pretty quickly.
Joe Biden’s regime has routinely declared that targeting “domestic violent extremism” is a top priority but there is never any concern expressed in regards to actual extremist groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter.
Without saying it out loud, Biden and his cohorts have made it clear that the “extremists” they are fighting are their political opponents rather than actual “domestic violent extremists.” Anyone who dares question the regime’s narratives and agenda is an “extremist.”
The new DHS press release identifies six “national priority areas” for the 2023 grants. Among the priorities being focused on is “election security.” Under the directive, grant recipients such as the “Urban Area Security Initiative” are required to spend at least 3 percent of their total grant money on “election security” efforts.
Considering the left has consistently asserted that elections are secure, this is a pretty obvious and brazen attempt to interfere in elections. Even the leftist Bipartisan Policy Center has admitted that federal funding for elections has never been conducted this way.
Naturally, the press release is vague and does not specifically define what “election security” is to mean. A separate report details the specifics of the 2023 grant program and lists several vague “core capabilities” of election security, including “cybersecurity,” “operational coordination,” and “long-term vulnerability reduction.”
Numerous examples are given of potential projects local election offices could spend their grant money on, such as “online harassment and targeting prevention services” and “physical/site security measures — e.g., locks, shatter proof glass, alarms, access controls, etc.”
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has indicated these grants will be directed toward primarily urban areas, where Democrats are typically at an advantage. No surprise there.
Mayorkas said:
This year, we are therefore expanding the reach of our more than $2 billion in funding by adding four additional urban areas as grant recipients: Austin, Texas; Honolulu, Hawaii; Jacksonville, Florida; and Nashville, Tennessee. This is in addition to the thirty-six urban areas we continue to support, bringing the total number of funded urban areas to 40.
This new directive is just the latest attempt by the Biden regime to influence elections. In March 2021, Biden signed an executive order mandating that all federal agencies, including the partisan bureaucrats that staff them, “expand citizens’ opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process.”
Now we’re seeing these efforts grow and expand.
Government watchdog groups have been working to obtain documents related to the order but have been met with predictable resistance by federal agencies. These same agencies worked round the clock prior to the 2022 midterms to cover up how they intended to carry out Biden’s directive.
On Election Day in November 2022, the Biden regime further inserted themselves into the electoral process when it sent attorneys from the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division to mostly blue and swing counties to monitor polling locations “for compliance with the federal voting rights laws.”
Among the localities the agency surveilled were traditionally Democrat strongholds such as Fulton County, Georgia, and Wayne County, Michigan, that have been at risk of flipping in recent years.
Also, worth pointing out, the media has been aiding and abetting the regime’s efforts. While the DOJ pledged to “prohibit [the] intimidation of voters,” the media was running story after story warning that GOP poll watchers were plotting to disrupt local election precincts on Election Day.
It’s obvious what the Biden regime and the Democratic Party are doing and it needs to be stopped. Republicans must step up and call out this chicanery for what it really is.
